Commercial Solar Panel Cleaning

What to know about maintaining your commercial solar panel investment.
Apart from lowering the carbon footprint of your business and contributing to a healthier environment and local community, your solar panel investment is designed to help you save money over the long term.
Depending on the size of location, commercial solar panel installation can run from tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars! That is an investment worth protecting!!
We know that dirt, dust, dirt, pollen, bird droppings and other material can negatively impact solar panel performance with losses in efficiency of up to 25% if not cleaned properly. A loss in output means a slower payback period on the system, and diminished returns overall.
Various studies have found that regular cleaning alone (1-2 times per year) was “the number 1 way to maximize energy production”. Time and again it has been shown that rainwater is simply not a sufficient way of cleaning the panels. Professionally cleaned solar panels have a 14% higher electricity output than those simply washed with rain water.
How often should I clean my solar panels? In general, having your panels cleaned 1-2 times per year is enough to keep them performing their best. Most businesses have their systems cleaned during the spring, and sometimes again near the end of the year. Of course, where you are located, and what you are located near (sources  of pollution) can be a determining factor in terms of cleaning frequency.
After you have made the decision to protect your investment and schedule regular cleanings, the next critical question is HOW will I have my panels cleaned? There are many different methods being used out there, and in our next entry we will discuss further. We WELCOME the opportunity to show you how to keep system at peak performance!
